So we just got back from Bend this afternoon. Tonaya finished her half Iron Man Triathlon on Saturday. The weather was great. Tonaya's mom, Terry and her brother Ryan and his wife Ali came down to help team Thompson cheer her on. She did her open swim, first leg, in 45 minutes. Pretty good, it was 1.3 miles I believe. Then she did the second leg which was on the bike. Sixty miles, it started at the lake outside of Bend where she did the swim. The ride went up to mount Bachelor and then back into Bend to a different transition point. A transition point is where she wears a timing chip on her ankle, and when she passes through it logs her time for each part of the race. First the swim, then the bike ride, and then the run. Since it was around 95 degrees the run took a little longer. But she finished all three events start to finish took around seven and a half hours. That was her goal. She looked really strong through out the race.
